COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UPDATES PAGE

The current agreement expires on July 31, 2025. As a result, the KPEA board and representatives will soon enter negotiations with Knappett Projects management to establish a new agreement. While all existing provisions—and even some that are not currently included—may be discussed, the wage grid typically receives the most attention.

The Association’s key priorities when considering wages include:

  • Maximizing wages that remain competitive with both union and non-union companies
  • Ensuring the company can continue to win work
  • Attracting and retaining skilled, reliable workers
  • Rewarding employees for developing their skills and delivering strong performance

The Collective Bargaining Process

The Collective Bargaining Process includes the following steps:

  1. Gathering information – This includes surveying members to understand their priorities, researching industry wages, and analyzing the current and projected economic climate.
  2. Board discussion – Meeting with the Board to identify bargaining goals and areas of focus.
  3. Negotiations – Sitting down with the Knappett Projects management team to negotiate a proposed new agreement.
  4. Ratification vote – Presenting the tentative agreement to all members for review and a vote. Upon successful ratification, the agreement is implemented. If the ratification vote is unsuccessful, bargaining continues.

Updates

1. The first Bargaining Date is set for July 9.
